I have recently been reading the book of Judges in my times with God. If you have read Judges you know the whole book is basically about how the Israelites didn’t drive out all the people of the promised land and were so in turn corrupted by their Gods and women. To punish them God would deliver them into the hands of another king who would oppress them. Israel would cry out to God and then God would send a Judge to deliver them and bring peace to the land.
For me (along with the million others who have read this book) I automatically God an extreme glimpse into God’s Patience. Every time a Judge delivered them the land would have peace for like 80 years and then right back to sin. The next thing that astonishes me even more is the fact that God is all knowing and he knew the Israelites were going to sin again and again and again and again etc. I amazes me because knowing myself I would have something completely different in strore for those who chose to sin against me over and over and over and over and over and over.
So how about you? I know for me there are times where I choose my will over Gods will. However he chooses to forgive me dealing with me with a patience that is completely beyond my scope of reasoning. I believe this is something key that we all have to remember. God has this patience because he has an unshakable LOVE for us. I pray and hope for me and you reading this that we never forget what God has done for us and the fact that he has shown great mercy toward us.
